A Decisive Response to Pique's Unusual Claim

Tensions reignite between Gerard Pique and Espanyol after a controversial invitation for a friendly match in his Kings League.

A Decisive Response to Pique's Unusual Claim

Once again, the long-standing tensions between Gerard Pique and Espanyol have made headlines. Pique, who was a key rival of Espanyol fans during his playing career, recently made a provocative invitation to the club for a friendly match in his Kings League tournament. This event, set for mid-January in Turin, is meant to prepare the Spanish team for the 'Kings League World Cup.'

Pique stated, "To prepare the Spanish team, we aim to invite a competitor of similar level for a Kings League match. Considering the Christmas break, we thought of Espanyol's first team." He added a controversial twist: "The losing team must pay the winner one million euros."

This statement was deemed highly provocative, especially since Espanyol was occupied with a crucial 1-1 draw against Valencia. However, a reaction came from David Soriano, a Kings League player, who criticized Pique on social media, writing, "Instead of making hollow promises, why not distribute the one million euros among Kings League players? Some of us earn only 400 euros while spending over 100 euros for training."

The comment quickly gained traction, and Kings League's official page responded, "We have already distributed one million euros among you."
