Marco Reus Secures First Championship Six Months After Leaving Dortmund
Marco Reus, former Borussia Dortmund captain, clinched his first Major League Soccer title with LA Galaxy, just six months after departing the German club.
In a remarkable achievement, Marco Reus has won his first league championship with LA Galaxy, merely half a year after leaving Borussia Dortmund. Reus joined the Major League Soccer (MLS) side in June 2024, following a distinguished 12-year tenure with Dortmund.
The MLS Cup final saw LA Galaxy triumph over New York Red Bulls with a 2-1 scoreline. Reus entered the match as a substitute in the 75th minute, replacing Gastón Brugman, and contributed to securing the victory.
This championship marks Reus's first league title in his professional career. His previous major honor was the DFB-Pokal (German Cup) with Borussia Dortmund in 2021.
Reus's move to LA Galaxy has proven fruitful, as he played in 11 matches this season, scoring once and providing valuable experience to the squad. His leadership has been instrumental in guiding the team to their sixth MLS Cup title, ending a decade-long championship drought for the club.
