Amorim Faces Media Scrutiny Over Rashford's Form
Manchester United's head coach, Ruben Amorim, addressed persistent media inquiries regarding Marcus Rashford's performance, expressing his commitment to helping the forward regain top form ahead of the EFL Cup quarter-final against Tottenham Hotspur.
In the lead-up to Manchester United's EFL Cup quarter-final clash with Tottenham Hotspur, head coach Ruben Amorim was inundated with questions concerning Marcus Rashford's recent performances. Amorim emphasized his dedication to assisting Rashford in returning to his peak form, stating, 'We are working with Rashford, and it's straightforward. We are trying different approaches to bring him back to his best level. Clubs like this need great talents, and he is a big talent who should play at the highest level. I just want to help Marcus.'
When questioned about the possibility of starting Rashford or Alejandro Garnacho in the upcoming match, Amorim noted that a final training session remained and that decisions would be made based on players' performances in practice. He remarked, 'We have one more training session, and the situation is the same for all players. If anyone trains well, I have to choose between him and others. We will decide at the end of the training.'
Addressing Rashford's recent comments about seeking new challenges, Amorim acknowledged the difficulties faced by the club and expressed hope that all players are prepared for the tasks ahead. He stated, 'I think it was the right thing he said. We have a new challenge here, which is very difficult and, for me, the biggest challenge in football because we are in a tough situation. I have said before that United is one of the biggest clubs in the world. This challenge is very new and big. I hope all my players are ready for this new challenge.'
Amorim also mentioned that he had not yet spoken directly with Rashford following the player's recent interview but planned to do so during training sessions. He emphasized his focus on the present, aiming to elicit the best performances from all his players, particularly Rashford. 'I haven't spoken to him yet. His interview was yesterday, and I gave the players a rest day. He is still our player and is ready for the next game. I always talk a lot with many players during training. What I want is to get the best performance from Rashford as a player. So, I don't like to talk about the future. I only talk about the present. I want to get the best game from all my players, and that's key for me. I just want us to win and help my team play better,' he concluded.
As Manchester United prepares for the crucial encounter with Tottenham Hotspur, Amorim's focus remains on optimizing player performance and securing a victory to advance in the EFL Cup.
