Julian Alvarez, the Argentine striker, has shed light on his decision to leave Manchester City and join Atletico Madrid. In a recent interview, Alvarez expressed that his primary motivation was to be at a club where he felt appreciated and integral to the team's success. He stated, "I am someone who is happy when I feel loved and wanted where I am. We footballers perform better when we're in a team that values us."
Alvarez also highlighted the significant role played by Diego Simeone and his son, Giuliano, in facilitating the transfer. He revealed that both father and son were in constant communication with him, with Giuliano conveying messages from his father. "Giuliano and El Cholo spoke to me every day, sending messages or calling. For example, Giuliano would text saying, 'El Cholo said to tell Julian this or that.' Diego Simeone told me that I could be a great help to Atletico," Alvarez recounted.
Since his €75 million move to Atletico Madrid in the summer, Alvarez has become a regular starter under Simeone, playing a pivotal role in the team's ascent to the top of La Liga. His integration into the squad has been seamless, aided by the presence of several Argentine compatriots, which he acknowledged as a contributing factor in his decision to join the club.
