Vinícius Jr. Nears Cristiano Ronaldo's Earnings at Real Madrid
Vinícius Jr., recently named FIFA's Best Player, is set to become Real Madrid's highest-paid player, approaching Cristiano Ronaldo's former salary.
Vinícius Jr., who was recently honored as FIFA's Best Player, is now poised to become the highest-paid player at Real Madrid. This accolade has triggered a special bonus, elevating his salary to nearly 20 million euros net in the final two years of his contract.
Prior to receiving the Best award, both Vinícius and Kylian Mbappé earned approximately 15 million euros net per season. In his last season with Real Madrid, Cristiano Ronaldo earned 21 million euros net.
In 2022, thanks to his agent, Frederico Pena, Vinícius secured a lucrative five-year contract with Real Madrid, spanning from 2022 to 2027, worth 75 million euros net, averaging 15 million euros per season.
With the FIFA award, his salary in the final two years of his contract will increase to 20 million euros net. Should Vinícius win future awards like the Ballon d'Or or rank among the top three, his salary could rise even further.
Modern football contracts are intricate, often featuring performance-based incentives. Vinícius joined Real Madrid at 18 with a contract linked to his playing time. In 2022, he earned 4.7 million euros net per season. After extending his contract, this amount rose to 15 million euros per season, and now, with the Best award, it's set to approach 20 million euros in the final years.
Real Madrid is expected to negotiate a new contract with Vinícius next summer, recognizing his status as the world's best player and acknowledging significant offers from Saudi Arabia. However, Vinícius is keen to remain at Real Madrid and aims to make history with the club.
