In a recent press briefing, Guardiola stated, "Under normal circumstances, we wouldn't consider entering the transfer market mid-season. However, injuries have significantly affected our options, particularly in defense, and this has forced us to reassess. Strengthening our defense and midfield is now a priority, either this winter or in the summer."
The manager outlined the specific challenges faced by the squad, saying, "While our attacking lineup has been consistent, defensive injuries and midfield gaps have been problematic throughout the season. We need to address these areas to maintain our competitive edge in both domestic and international competitions."
City's recent form has included an impressive 8-0 victory over Salford in the FA Cup and strong league performances against West Ham and Leicester City. Despite these successes, Guardiola's focus remains on long-term stability. "The victories are encouraging, but we need depth to sustain this level of performance," he noted.
Guardiola also commented on the situation surrounding Kyle Walker, who has faced rumors of an imminent departure. "There’s nothing new to share regarding Kyle. After today’s training session, I’ll decide if he will be included in the squad for the match against Brentford."
Addressing transfer rumors about Abdukodir Khusanov, Guardiola stated, "There’s no official news from the club about this player. As of now, I’m unaware of any finalized agreements."
