Conceição Demands Tougher Play After Milan's Victory

Sérgio Conceição, head coach of AC Milan, called for a more resilient performance from his team following their hard-fought 2-1 victory over Como in the 19th week of Serie A. The match saw Milan come from behind with goals from Theo Hernandez and Rafael Leão to secure three crucial points.

Speaking at the post-match press conference, Conceição acknowledged the challenges his side faced: "We were up against a solid opponent, and it was far from an easy game. We prepared thoroughly, analyzing video footage and devising strategies, but there are always unexpected elements during the match. We need to be stronger in duels, more assertive in attacks, and sharper defensively."

Reflecting on the first-half struggles, Conceição admitted, "We were not at our best in the first half. After conceding, the players responded well, but as a team, we must be tougher. I told my players we cannot allow opponents to score so easily. We have the quality to defend better, and I expect significant improvement in this area."

The coach also elaborated on his philosophy of pressing high: "Our pressing system is clear. At this level, every player has unique qualities, but some are not accustomed to certain styles of play. Effective pressing isn’t about running more; it’s about running smarter, controlling the ball, and maintaining structure. This is a key concept I’m working to instill across the squad."

Despite his critiques, Conceição praised his team's character and ability to bounce back in challenging situations. "Today’s result shows the resilience of this group, but we need to build on this and aim for consistent performances," he said.

The victory keeps AC Milan in a competitive position in the Serie A standings, while also highlighting areas for growth as the team strives for domestic and European success.
