Ancelotti Unveils Real Madrid's New Gem
In the recent match against Girona, Carlo Ancelotti introduced 17-year-old academy talent Dani Yáñez to the first team, marking a significant milestone in the young winger's burgeoning career.
In the latest fixture against Girona, Carlo Ancelotti showcased a fresh face from Real Madrid's academy: Dani Yáñez, donning the number 42 jersey. Although initially absent from the squad list, Yáñez was called up following Rodrygo's injury and made his debut with ten minutes remaining, a dream come true for the young talent.
Reflecting on his unexpected opportunity, Yáñez shared, "Playing for Castilla was already a significant aspiration, and being summoned for the Girona match was incredible." He revealed Ancelotti's advice during the substitution: "The coach told me to perform as I do for Castilla." A lifelong Real Madrid supporter, Yáñez expressed, "I've dreamt of this moment since childhood. This season has been exceptional, and I strive daily for such chances, hoping for more in the future."
At 17, Yáñez had previously been included in the squad for the Champions League clash at Anfield against Liverpool. A versatile winger under Álvaro Arbeloa's guidance in the youth ranks, he caught the attention of Ancelotti and his son, Davide. Elevated due to Rodrygo's late absence, Yáñez has emerged as one of La Fábrica's standout prospects, modeling his game after Cristiano Ronaldo.
Yáñez leads Real Madrid in the UEFA Youth League with four goals in five matches, pivotal in securing nine points and advancing to the Round of 16. His adaptability allows him to excel both on the flanks and centrally, characterized by his speed, energy, and proficiency in one-on-one situations, consistently creating numerical advantages. His impact earned him a spot in Raúl's Castilla since October and a place in the senior squad against Liverpool. A Spanish youth international, Yáñez extended his contract in August 2023 and has been part of La Fábrica since 2019.
