Carragher: Chelsea Can't Win the Premier League with Current Defense and Goalkeeper
Football analyst Jamie Carragher asserts that Chelsea's existing defensive lineup and goalkeeper are insufficient for securing the Premier League title.
In a recent analysis, football pundit Jamie Carragher expressed skepticism about Chelsea's ability to clinch the Premier League title with their current defensive setup and goalkeeper. He emphasized the necessity of having a standout goalkeeper and central defenders to achieve championship success.
Carragher highlighted that historically, Premier League champions have boasted exceptional defensive figures, citing examples like Manchester City's Ederson and Ruben Dias, Liverpool's Virgil van Dijk and Alisson, and Chelsea's own Petr Cech and John Terry. He suggested that Chelsea's present roster lacks comparable defensive stalwarts.
Despite Chelsea's offensive prowess, leading the league with 35 goals this season, their defense has conceded 18 goals in 15 matches. Carragher noted that no team has won the Premier League while averaging more than one goal conceded per game since Manchester United's 2013 title run.
He concluded that Chelsea needs to strengthen their defense to be genuine contenders for the Premier League championship.
