Bayern Munich President Addresses Omission of Leroy Sané in Contract Talks
Herbert Hainer clarifies why Leroy Sané was not mentioned alongside other key players in recent contract extension discussions.
In a recent interview, Herbert Hainer, president of Bayern Munich, discussed ongoing efforts to extend contracts with pivotal players. He highlighted individuals like Joshua Kimmich, Alphonso Davies, and Jamal Musiala, stating, "Since the times of Beckenbauer, Hoeneß, Rummenigge, Lahm, Schweinsteiger, Müller, and Neuer, we've always had players who set new standards for future generations. Now, Jamal, Kimmich, and Davies should join them and set new benchmarks. We are working to extend their contracts."
The absence of Leroy Sané's name in this context raised questions among fans and media, given his contract also expires in 2025. Addressing this, Hainer explained, "We have several players whose contracts end in 2025. I don't want to discuss each player individually today. I mentioned these three because I believe they can become or already are defining figures for Bayern Munich."
Reports from Sky indicate that Bayern's management is in contact with Sané's representatives, though no formal offer has been made. Some club officials believe Sané needs to demonstrate improved performance to secure a new contract.
