Antoine Griezmann Criticizes Atlético Madrid Fans for Lack of Support
Following Atlético Madrid's 4-3 victory over Sevilla, Antoine Griezmann expressed disappointment with the South Stand supporters for their silence during the match, emphasizing the team's need for their usual fervent backing.
In a thrilling encounter at the Metropolitano Stadium, Atlético Madrid overcame a 3-1 deficit to secure a 4-3 win against Sevilla. Despite the remarkable comeback, forward Antoine Griezmann voiced his frustration with the club's most passionate supporters, known as the 'Frente Atlético,' who occupy the South Stand. These fans staged a protest by remaining silent throughout the match, refraining from their typical enthusiastic support.
Griezmann remarked, "I am truly sorry because they abandoned us, and it was extremely disappointing. We needed the support of those in the South Stand, who usually drive us forward and make things easier for us. This was disappointing."
He continued, "We are a team with a united locker room. Everyone is on the same path, and this is evident whenever new players come on in the 60th or 70th minute and change the game, as happened tonight. This is the way we must continue to achieve our big dreams."
Griezmann also addressed the team's aspirations in La Liga, stating, "We will try to win all the remaining games. We know that difficult moments will come, but we are united and must keep fighting."
