Federico Valverde Expresses Frustration Over Real Madrid's Champions League Standing

Real Madrid's midfielder Federico Valverde has openly expressed his disappointment regarding the team's current standing in the Champions League. Traditionally dominant in European competitions, Real Madrid finds itself in an uncharacteristic 24th position in the league phase, a situation that Valverde finds unsettling.

Addressing the media ahead of their crucial match against Atalanta in Bergamo, Valverde stated, "It's very bad and it bothers and upsets us. We are used to always being at the top of the table, and being in this situation now is disheartening."

Reflecting on the team's recent challenges, Valverde emphasized the need for increased effort and determination, asserting, "We have no choice but to increase our efforts and fighting spirit. We must deliver our best performance, even if this club has won everything."

Valverde also addressed a personal error in a previous match against Athletic Bilbao, admitting to sleep difficulties following the mistake. He remarked, "After that mistake, I had trouble sleeping. As one of the club's captains, I must set an example for others. That error helped me improve my character and strive harder to make amends."

Regarding the congested match schedule and the potential need for rest, Valverde dismissed the notion, stating, "These days, many talk about this, and there are certainly different opinions, but I don't need rest and always want to play."
