Bayern Munich's Goalkeeper Manuel Neuer Sidelined Until January with Broken Rib
Bayern Munich faces a significant setback as captain and goalkeeper Manuel Neuer is ruled out until January due to a broken rib sustained during a recent match.
Bayern Munich's preparations for the upcoming Champions League match against Shakhtar Donetsk have been dealt a blow with the news that captain and first-choice goalkeeper Manuel Neuer will be unavailable until January. Head coach Vincent Kompany confirmed that Neuer suffered a broken rib during a collision with Bayer Leverkusen's Jeremie Frimpong in the DFB-Pokal match last week, an incident that also resulted in Neuer receiving a red card—the first straight red of his career.
In Neuer's absence, Daniel Peretz is expected to step in as the starting goalkeeper, with Sven Ulreich serving as the backup. Kompany expressed confidence in Peretz's abilities, stating, "I'd never ask a player to be a copy of another. Peretz needs to play his game and has earned his minutes."
The team is also contending with injuries to key players, including top scorer Harry Kane, João Palhinha, Alphonso Davies, and Serge Gnabry. Despite these challenges, Bayern Munich aims to secure a victory against Shakhtar Donetsk to improve their position in the Champions League standings.
