Dayot Upamecano Praises Vincent Kompany's Impact at Bayern Munich
Bayern Munich defender Dayot Upamecano commends head coach Vincent Kompany for his significant contributions to the team's performance and his personal development, contrasting it with the previous season under Thomas Tuchel.
Dayot Upamecano, the defender for Bayern Munich, has expressed his appreciation for the positive influence of head coach Vincent Kompany on both his individual progress and the team's overall performance. Reflecting on the previous season under former coach Thomas Tuchel, Upamecano noted the challenges faced and highlighted the improvements made since Kompany's appointment.
In an interview with Bild, Upamecano stated, "Last season was difficult for us, and personally, it wasn't great for me either. However, the most important thing is where we stand today, and we now have a very, very good coach." He emphasized the extensive video analysis sessions conducted under Kompany's leadership, which have been instrumental in enhancing his performance.
Upamecano added, "I have spoken a lot with Kompany; he helps me and makes me very, very happy. We do a lot of video analysis with the coach present, providing insights. He helps me a lot, and I think he helps the team as well." He expressed his satisfaction with his ongoing development, attributing it to Kompany's guidance.
Under Kompany's management, Bayern Munich has experienced a resurgence, securing 15 wins in 21 matches and reclaiming the top position in the Bundesliga standings. This marks a significant turnaround from the 2023–24 season, where Bayern's 11-year championship streak was halted by an undefeated Bayer Leverkusen, leading to Tuchel's departure and Kompany's subsequent appointment.
Upamecano concluded by emphasizing the importance of learning from mistakes and maintaining focus, stating, "The most important thing is that when you make a mistake, you have to correct it and quickly refocus. That's what I did. The coach said he is happy, and that is very good for me and the whole team."
