Former Al-Ittihad Star Romarinho Tests Positive for Banned Substance
Romarinho, the former Al-Ittihad forward now playing for Neom, has tested positive for a prohibited substance, reportedly linked to medication prescribed during his efforts to expand his family.
Romarinho, the Brazilian forward who recently transferred from Al-Ittihad to Neom, has tested positive for a banned substance. According to reports from Al-Kass, the Saudi Arabian Anti-Doping Committee is currently investigating the matter, with official results pending.
A source close to Romarinho revealed that the positive test is connected to medication prescribed to assist him and his wife in having another child. The source stated, "Romarinho has never used any banned substances before. This situation arose because of medication he took to help expand his family. Unfortunately, the doctor did not inform him that the medication contained prohibited substances, leading to this crisis."
Despite the ongoing investigation, Romarinho is expected to participate in Neom's upcoming match against Al-Arabi, as no official suspension has been imposed. The player's legal team, along with Neom's management, is actively gathering evidence to prove his innocence.
Romarinho joined Neom at the start of the current season on a contract extending until 2026. He has made a significant impact in the First Division League, scoring eight goals and playing a pivotal role in Neom's rise to the top of the standings.
In a related development, Al-Ittihad's media director, Riyadh Al-Mazhar, announced that the club is taking legal action to defend its rights against allegations made following their recent 2-1 victory over Al-Nassr. Al-Mazhar stated that a comprehensive report has been submitted to the club's legal department to address these claims.
