Barcelona's Diego Kochen Signs Contract Extension Until 2028

Barcelona has secured the services of promising American goalkeeper Diego Kochen by extending his contract until 2028. The agreement, initially reached in February, was formalized on Monday, ensuring Kochen's continued development within the club's ranks.

Kochen, born in Miami, joined Barcelona's academy in 2019 at the age of 13. His rapid progression saw him included in 26 first-team matchday squads last season under manager Xavi Hernández. He made his debut for Barcelona Atletic on April 14 against Unionistas de Salamanca, showcasing his potential at the senior level.

This season, Kochen has made seven appearances for Barcelona's youth team, despite a hamstring injury sidelining him for a month since late September. His performances have earned him a call-up to the United States senior national team by coach Mauricio Pochettino, highlighting his growing reputation on the international stage.

Barcelona views Kochen as a key figure in their goalkeeping future. However, the immediate plan is for him to continue gaining experience with the youth and reserve teams, allowing for a seamless transition to the first team when the opportunity arises.
