Barcelona Faces Three-Week Deadline to Secure Dani Olmo's Registration
Barcelona has until December 31 to finalize Dani Olmo's registration; failure to do so will render him ineligible for the remainder of the season. The club is exploring financial solutions to meet La Liga's requirements.
Barcelona is under significant pressure to complete the permanent registration of Dani Olmo within the next three weeks. If the club fails to do so by December 31, Olmo will be unable to participate in La Liga for the rest of the season, and his eligibility for other competitions remains uncertain.
Olmo, Barcelona's major summer acquisition, was temporarily registered on August 27, following Andreas Christensen's long-term injury, which freed up space under La Liga's financial regulations. This provisional status allows Olmo to play until the end of the year, coinciding with Christensen's expected return.
The club had anticipated that a new sponsorship deal with Nike would facilitate Olmo's permanent registration. However, La Liga has indicated that this agreement alone is insufficient to resolve the financial constraints. Consequently, Barcelona has scheduled an extraordinary assembly for members to approve the sponsorship deal, hoping it will contribute to the necessary financial adjustments.
In the meantime, President Joan Laporta has been actively seeking additional investment, including potential deals in Qatar, to generate the required funds. Despite these efforts, the club has yet to secure a definitive solution, leaving Olmo's future in limbo as the deadline approaches.
Barcelona's management remains cautiously optimistic, drawing on past experiences where last-minute solutions have been found. However, the clock is ticking, and without a timely resolution, the team risks losing a key player for the remainder of the campaign.
