Alonso: 'With Respect to Inter, We Deserved the Win'

Following Bayer Leverkusen's narrow 1-0 triumph over Inter Milan in the UEFA Champions League, head coach Xabi Alonso expressed satisfaction with his team's display. He remarked, 'We played a good, very complete, and mature game. Against Inter, you must control your emotions because they are very dangerous. We controlled the game, had three chances, and converted one. I believe we deserved this win.'
Alonso emphasized the importance of maintaining composure, stating, 'We wanted to win, committed ourselves to play maturely, and that's what we did. We won deservedly. I always want to instill this spirit in the team to create many opportunities, and tonight we succeeded.'
He also noted the team's ambition, adding, 'We played at home and wanted to maintain control without doing anything foolish because they could counterattack with players like Taremi. But we wanted to get a result, and we did that, even if it was very ordinary.'
