Rodrigo De Paul: 'I'm Glad Atletico Fans Have High Expectations of Us!'
Argentinian midfielder Rodrigo De Paul expresses satisfaction with the high expectations of Atletico Madrid supporters, believing it drives player development.
In a pre-match press conference ahead of Atletico Madrid's Champions League fixture against Slovan Bratislava, midfielder Rodrigo De Paul addressed the elevated expectations from the club's supporters. He stated, "As I've mentioned before, it's good that fans have high expectations of us. It compels players to strive for improvement."
Reflecting on the team's recent form, De Paul noted, "The only way to improve our situation was to fight, and I'm pleased that we're in a better position now compared to the season's start. A footballer evolves daily and always has room to learn. In football, a single moment can be decisive, and we continually engage with our coach to enhance our performance."
Regarding Atletico's tendency to score late goals and their championship aspirations, he commented, "We believe in taking it game by game; that's our understanding of football. The past is irrelevant because our fans judge us based on current performances. Therefore, our sole focus is on tomorrow's match."
On his recent goal-scoring contributions, De Paul added, "Sometimes, when you approach the opponent's penalty area, you feel the need to stay and seize scoring opportunities. It's crucial to support our forwards, as this propels the team toward victory. However, my primary focus on the field isn't scoring."
