Rodrygo: 'This Is My Worst Season at Real Madrid'

Real Madrid forward Rodrygo Goes has described the current campaign as his most challenging since joining the club, attributing his struggles to a series of injuries and a prolonged goal drought. After the team's 3-2 victory over Atalanta in the UEFA Champions League, Rodrygo expressed relief at overcoming his fitness issues, despite not scoring or starting the match.

"The past few weeks have been very tough for me," Rodrygo admitted. "Last season, I didn't suffer any injuries, but this time I've had several. In that sense, it's been the worst season possible."

Since September, Rodrygo has neither scored nor provided an assist, a stark contrast to his earlier form. He acknowledged the demanding schedule but emphasized the importance of adapting: "We have little time to rest. We give our maximum effort, but the calendar is quite complicated. However, it's something we must accept and strive to perform at our best in every game."

With the recent injury to teammate Kylian Mbappe, opportunities may arise for Rodrygo to re-establish himself in the starting lineup, particularly in the upcoming match against Rayo Vallecano. Reflecting on the Atalanta game, he praised the team's tactical execution: "They played differently, marking man-to-man, but we exploited the open spaces well."

Rodrygo remains hopeful for a turnaround in his fortunes as the season progresses, aiming to contribute significantly to Real Madrid's pursuits in both domestic and European competitions.
