German Supercup to Be Renamed in Honor of Franz Beckenbauer

The German Football Association (DFB) is set to honor the legendary Franz Beckenbauer by renaming the German Supercup after him. This decision follows the recent retirement of Bayern Munich's number five jersey, a tribute to Beckenbauer's enduring legacy. The inaugural match under the new designation is scheduled for August 16, 2025.

Beckenbauer, who passed away on January 7 at the age of 78, is celebrated for his exceptional achievements, including winning the World Cup both as a player and as a manager, a feat that cements his status in football history.
