In a fan-driven poll conducted by the German Football Association (DFB) on Instagram, Jamal Musiala, the 21-year-old midfielder from Bayern Munich, has been honored as Germany's Player of the Year for 2024. Musiala secured 56% of the votes, surpassing Bayer Leverkusen's Florian Wirtz, who garnered 38%, and Arsenal's Kai Havertz, who received 6%.
This accolade marks Musiala's second time receiving the award, having first earned it in 2022. His exceptional performances throughout the year, particularly during UEFA Euro 2024, where he scored three goals in his debut European Championship, have solidified his reputation as a pivotal figure in Germany's midfield.
Musiala's international career has been remarkable; despite his young age, he has already amassed 38 caps and scored seven goals for the national team. His consistent excellence continues to be a cornerstone for both club and country.
In the women's category, Giulia Gwinn of Bayern Munich was named Germany's Player of the Year for 2024, highlighting the significant contributions of Bayern Munich players to German football.
