Jadon Sancho: 'If I Don't Work Hard, Maresca Won't Play Me'
Chelsea forward Jadon Sancho emphasizes the importance of daily hard work under manager Enzo Maresca to secure his place in the team's lineup.
Jadon Sancho, the forward for Chelsea, has highlighted the necessity of consistent effort to earn playing time under manager Enzo Maresca. Since joining Chelsea on loan from Manchester United this past summer, Sancho has experienced a gradual start. However, his recent performance, scoring two goals in the last two Premier League matches, indicates a return to form.
Following a victory against Tottenham, Maresca remarked that Sancho must maintain his performance level to remain in the starting lineup. Reflecting on his initial interactions with Maresca, Sancho stated, "When I first spoke with him, I felt his energy and presence, especially during our conversations. He knows his job well."
Sancho added, "He can teach all players something valuable, making collaboration with him beneficial. Maresca insists that everyone works hard daily; otherwise, we won't play." He also mentioned that Maresca encourages him to leverage his strengths, such as winning one-on-one situations and creating space for teammates, to contribute effectively to the team's success.
