Vincent Kompany: 'I Am Not Influenced by Anyone'
Bayern Munich's head coach, Vincent Kompany, asserts his autonomy in decision-making regarding player contracts, emphasizing that choices are made collectively within the club and remain unaffected by external speculations.
Vincent Kompany, the head coach of Bayern Munich, has affirmed his independence in decisions concerning player contracts, stating that all determinations are made collaboratively within the club's hierarchy and are not swayed by external rumors.
Addressing the media ahead of Bayern's Bundesliga match against Mainz, Kompany discussed the status of his squad, noting the absence of key players like Harry Kane due to injury. He confirmed that other players who participated in the recent match against Shakhtar are available for selection.
When questioned about the contract renewal of winger Leroy Sané, Kompany emphasized a systematic approach: 'Upon joining the team, my focus was on the 25 players at our disposal. We have a sporting director, a board member, a CEO, and a president. My role is to assess players based on their performance. We first discuss matters with the player and their agent before making any public announcements. Regardless of the decisions we make, we will not be influenced by external noise.'
Regarding the future of veteran forward Thomas Müller and potential successors, Kompany stated: 'We engage in discussions with players about all aspects concerning their future. I don't dwell on whether Müller will leave or who might replace him. Transitions are crucial. When prominent players depart, others step up. Everything should happen at the right time and naturally.' He cited his experience at Manchester City, where leaders like İlkay Gündoğan, Fernandinho, and David Silva emerged following his departure.
Kompany's remarks underscore his commitment to maintaining focus within the club and ensuring that decisions are made based on internal evaluations rather than external pressures.
