The Qatar national football team has initiated its training camp in anticipation of the upcoming Arabian Gulf Cup, scheduled to take place later this month in Kuwait. This marks the team's first assembly under the leadership of newly appointed head coach Luis García, who previously served as an assistant to former head coach Marquez Lopez. García, with managerial experience at clubs like Espanyol, aims to integrate both experienced players and promising newcomers to enhance team cohesion and performance.

The announced 29-player squad includes:

  • Goalkeepers: Salah Zakaria, Mishaal Barshim, Mohamed Bakri
  • Defenders: Sultan Al-Brake, Tarek Salman, Ahmed Fathi, Jassem Jaber, Hassan Shehata, Ahmed Al-Rawi, Lucas Mendes
  • Midfielders: Abdullah Al-Ahrak, Asim Madibo, Abdulrahman Mustafa, Bahaa Al-Laithi, Marwan Al-Sayed, Abdullah Youssef, Mustafa Meshaal, Mohamed Waad, Mahdi Salem
  • Forwards: Almoez Ali, Akram Afif, Mohammed Muntari, Youssef Abdulrazzaq, Rabeh Boussafi, Naif Al-Hadhrami, Tamim Mansour, Ahmed Alaa, Khaled Muneer

The team will continue its training sessions in Doha until December 19, before departing for Kuwait. Their opening match is slated for December 21 against the United Arab Emirates at the Jaber Mubarak Al-Sabah Stadium. Coach García is focused on finalizing the starting lineup and ensuring optimal readiness for the tournament, aiming to lead Qatar to a commendable performance in the regional competition.
