Rayo Vallecano Coach: Mbappe's Absence Could Be Detrimental to Us
Iñigo Perez, head coach of Rayo Vallecano, suggests that Kylian Mbappe's absence from Real Madrid's lineup might disadvantage his team, as replacements possess high potential and could alter Madrid's playing style.
Rayo Vallecano is set to host Real Madrid in a Madrid derby at the Estadio de Vallecas. Real Madrid faces several injuries, notably the absence of Kylian Mbappe, who sustained a thigh injury during the UEFA Champions League match against Atalanta and will miss the upcoming game.
Addressing Mbappe's absence, Rayo Vallecano's head coach, Iñigo Perez, remarked: "This is significant because Mbappe has exceptional quality. His absence might work against us, as his replacement will also have high potential, and Real Madrid may change their playing style. We had thoroughly analyzed Real's system with Mbappe all week. However, this doesn't alter our game plan. We must hope that it's not Real's night."
Reflecting on facing Real Madrid again, Perez added: "It brings back good memories. We've taken a slightly different path since then. I hope we can replicate that match and win again. Coming into this game with two victories gives us confidence. These wins help us stay on course. We must aim to perform as we have against other big teams, with a desire to attack and score. I see an upward trend in Real Madrid. In their game against Atalanta, they scored three goals and withstood pressure. We must be aware that they are superior to us in almost every aspect of football, but the result is decided on the pitch."
