Paulo Fonseca: Changing the Captain Would Be Fatal for Me
AC Milan's head coach, Paulo Fonseca, addresses the club's leadership dynamics and his commitment to the current captaincy hierarchy amid recent criticisms.
In a recent press conference, Paulo Fonseca, the head coach of AC Milan, discussed the team's leadership structure and his stance on the captaincy amid ongoing discussions and criticisms.
When questioned about the possibility of appointing new leaders within the squad and potential changes to the captaincy, Fonseca responded candidly:
"I have my own perspective on this matter. Upon my arrival, AC Milan had three captains: Davide Calabria, Theo Hernandez, and Rafael Leao. If I were to change the captain now, it would be detrimental to me. I have confidence in our captains and believe in respecting the internal hierarchy of the team, and I will continue to do so until I decide otherwise."
Addressing the possibility of Rafael Leao serving as captain in upcoming matches, Fonseca acknowledged:
"That is a possibility."
These statements come in the wake of AC Milan's recent performances, including a 2-1 defeat to Atalanta and a 2-1 victory over Red Star Belgrade in the Champions League. Fonseca's remarks underscore his commitment to maintaining stability and respect within the team's leadership framework, even amidst external pressures and critiques.
