Jesus Navas Urges Sevilla Teammates to Fight On in Farewell Speech
In an emotional farewell, Sevilla's legendary captain Jesus Navas called on his teammates to uphold the club's legacy of dedication and passion following his final match at Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium.
After his final official match at Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium, Jesus Navas, the iconic captain of Sevilla FC, addressed the media in a heartfelt press conference. The La Liga fixture saw Sevilla secure a 1-0 victory over Celta Vigo, elevating them to tenth place in the league standings.
Navas, who had announced earlier in the season his intention to retire at mid-season, expressed profound gratitude: "I am deeply thankful for the support you've shown me over the years. Saying goodbye is complex, filled with myriad emotions and memories. However, when the referee blows the whistle, I have always strived for my beloved Sevilla. This club deserves everything, and I have given my all until this very last day."
He urged his teammates to continue the tradition of commitment: "I ask my teammates to preserve this legacy of dedication and fighting spirit for the club's emblem." Reflecting on his career, Navas remarked, "I have achieved much, won numerous titles, and brought joy to Sevilla—my lifelong goal. From childhood, I fought for this. I have also made Spain proud with the national team. Sevilla and the national team mean everything to me."
Addressing the younger players, he advised, "It's very clear. They fight valiantly and give their all for the team's success. They do this for themselves and for the fans. I am proud of each one of them."
Concluding his remarks, Navas emphasized the sanctity of the club: "This club is sacred, this badge is sacred, and these fans are sacred."
