Thiago Motta: 'No Excuses, We Were Very Poor'

Following a 2-2 draw with Venezia, Juventus manager Thiago Motta candidly assessed his team's lackluster performance. The match, held at the Allianz Stadium, marked Juventus's fourth consecutive draw in Serie A, a streak that has raised concerns about the team's form.

In the post-match press conference, Motta stated, "Our performance was unacceptable, and the result reflects that. Facing a team that executed their game plan effectively, we should have performed much better. This game has no relation to our previous victory over Manchester City."

He continued, "Today, we should not have played in this manner. I am dissatisfied with both the result and the players' efforts. We must seek solutions to end this series of poor outcomes."

Addressing a post-match altercation between Dusan Vlahovic and some fans, Motta remarked, "Players are the first to desire victory. Such incidents, while unfortunate, are not unprecedented in football. We must remain united and move forward. The players and I are eager to change this situation. Fans have the right to express their feelings, but ultimately, we must all work together to resolve these issues."

Regarding the team's inconsistency—performing well against strong opponents yet faltering against ostensibly weaker teams—Motta admitted, "This is our current reality. I am not offering excuses; there are none for our recent Serie A results. We need to improve and cannot remain stagnant. After taking a 1-0 lead, we should have managed the game better. Failing to control the match as time progresses is highly disappointing."

Commenting on the performances of Weston McKennie and Teun Koopmeiners, Motta noted, "I closely monitor them in training and matches. Today, I chose to deploy them in different roles. A player operating as an attacking midfielder should not be confined to one area; they must exhibit creativity to challenge the opposition."
