Neuer: No Rush to Extend Contract with Bayern
Manuel Neuer, Bayern Munich's 38-year-old goalkeeper, expresses no urgency in renewing his contract, focusing instead on full recovery from his rib injury.
Manuel Neuer, the 38-year-old goalkeeper for Bayern Munich, has stated that he is in no hurry to extend his contract with the club, which is set to expire in less than six months. Currently sidelined due to both suspension and injury, Neuer emphasized the importance of fully recovering from his rib injury before considering contract discussions.
Speaking at an event attended by Bayern fans, Neuer told Sky Sport: "I think both parties would be happy to continue working together. However, there's no rush to extend; I need to fully overcome my injury first, as I still feel pain in my ribs."
Despite his desire to continue, recent underwhelming performances have cast doubt on the likelihood of a contract renewal. Sources close to Bayern Munich suggest that club officials have yet to reach a definitive decision regarding Neuer's future with the team.
So far this season, Neuer has featured in 19 matches for Bayern. His most recent appearance was in the DFB-Pokal Round of 16 against Bayer Leverkusen, where his first-half red card significantly contributed to Bayern's 1-0 loss and early exit from the competition.
