Manchester United's 2-1 victory over Manchester City marked Ruben Amorim's second triumph over Pep Guardiola this season, following a previous win with Sporting Lisbon.

Ruben Amorim's Dominance: Defeating Pep Twice in 40 Days

In a dramatic Manchester derby, Manchester United overturned a first-half deficit to secure a 2-1 win against Manchester City. Josko Gvardiol had given City the lead, but United responded with two late goals. A weak back pass from Matheus Nunes was intercepted by Amad Diallo, who was then fouled by Nunes, resulting in a penalty. Bruno Fernandes converted the spot-kick to equalize. Minutes later, Diallo received a precise pass from Lisandro Martinez, skillfully evaded goalkeeper Ederson, and scored the winning goal. This victory made Ruben Amorim the first manager since Sir Alex Ferguson to win his inaugural Manchester derby.

Amorim had previously defeated Guardiola's side while managing Sporting Lisbon. On November 5th, Sporting came from behind to beat Manchester City 4-1 in the Champions League. Phil Foden had opened the scoring for City, but Sporting responded with goals from Viktor Gyokeres and Maximiliano Araujo, with Gyokeres completing a hat-trick. Forty days later, Amorim replicated this success with Manchester United, once again overcoming Guardiola's team.
