Salman Al-Faraj Suffers ACL Tear but Vows to Continue Playing
Saudi Arabian midfielder Salman Al-Faraj has sustained an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury but remains determined to return to the field, dismissing any retirement plans.
Salman Al-Faraj, the star midfielder for Neom FC and the Saudi Arabian national team, has suffered a significant setback with an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury. The injury occurred during a training session prior to Saudi Arabia's match against Australia in November, part of the fifth round of the final qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.
Despite being 35 years old and facing a lengthy recovery period, Al-Faraj has dismissed any speculation about retiring from professional football. He expressed his commitment to rejoining his club, Neom FC, which competes in Saudi Arabia's First Division and is a strong contender for promotion to the Professional League next season.
In a video message shared through Neom FC's official channels, Al-Faraj stated: 'Alhamdulillah, everything is fine, and things are improving. I wanted to assure you that I am well. After recovering from my injury, I will see you soon in Tabuk.'
It's noteworthy that Al-Faraj underwent a successful surgery in Doha, Qatar, last week.
