Fonseca Reflects on Milan's Goalless Draw Against Genoa

Following AC Milan's 0-0 draw with Genoa at San Siro, head coach Paulo Fonseca shared his thoughts on the match. He acknowledged the team's strong performance and determination to secure a victory, despite the absence of goals.

"We played well, creating numerous opportunities," Fonseca stated. "The players demonstrated a strong will to win. The only thing missing was the goal. We lacked precision in our final decisions and the quality of our attacks, especially inside the opponent's penalty area. I believe we had around 22 shots, yet we couldn't find the back of the net."

Addressing concerns about the forwards, Fonseca defended his players: "Abraham had to leave the game due to injury, and Morata hadn't trained in recent days. It's unfair to solely blame the forwards, as there was also a lack of accuracy in our crosses and final passes. Our goal was to secure a win as a gift for our fans, and we tried every possible way, but the result didn't go as expected. Of course, I'm not satisfied with the outcome."

The match coincided with the celebration of AC Milan's 125th anniversary, with fans gathered at San Siro. Despite dominating the game, Milan couldn't break through Genoa's defense, who managed to hold the Rossoneri without registering a single shot on target.
