Former Juventus Midfielder Simone Muratore Retires Despite Overcoming Cancer
Simone Muratore, once a promising talent from Juventus' academy, has announced his retirement from professional football at 26, following a successful battle against cancer.
Simone Muratore, who progressed through Juventus' academy and had stints with Reggina, Atalanta, and Tondela in Portugal, faced a significant health challenge in October 2021. After experiencing severe headaches, he was diagnosed with a benign tumor. Undergoing a 10-hour surgery, Muratore successfully had the tumor removed and returned to play for Tondela. However, two years after his last professional match, he has decided to retire to prioritize his health. Reflecting on his journey, Muratore stated, 'I tried to return to the field, and it happened; but I am no longer the same person. I realized that surviving was very fortunate. I had the opportunity to play alongside many stars at Juventus, and that's something no one will ever forget.'
