Leganes' Wall Reveals the Secret to Stopping Barcelona
Goalkeeper Marko Dmitrovic's outstanding saves were pivotal in Leganes' 1-0 victory over Barcelona, showcasing his preparation and a touch of luck.
Marko Dmitrovic, the goalkeeper for Leganes, delivered a stellar performance in their 1-0 win against Barcelona, effectively becoming a formidable barrier against the Catalan giants. Reflecting on his crucial save against Robert Lewandowski, Dmitrovic stated, "We had analyzed Lewandowski and knew he could shoot from any position, often aiming for the corners. Fortunately, I managed to save that shot, though technically, had I waited a bit longer, it might have been an easier save. It appears as a great save, but I believe he didn't strike it as well as he could have, and I was lucky to stop it."
He further commented on his experience: "Thankfully, I have many years of experience playing in the league. Facing top teams, you must endure until the final moment. I tried to maintain my focus at the highest level. Playing in these stadiums as the visiting team is challenging. My role was to keep the players under pressure. It was an outstanding performance from my teammates."
When asked about his most challenging saves, Dmitrovic noted, "Each save is difficult, but stopping Lewandowski's shot was particularly tough due to the close range. You try to make yourself appear larger and let the ball hit you. The save against Raphinha was also good; I was fortunate to be in the right place. I believe I made three significant saves and am satisfied with my performance."
