La Liga Files Official Complaint Against Vinícius Júnior
La Liga has lodged a formal complaint against Real Madrid's Vinícius Júnior following his provocative gesture towards Rayo Vallecano fans, despite the club's decision not to pursue disciplinary action.
A video capturing Vinícius Júnior's gesture while leaving the Estadio de Vallecas has been widely circulated on social media. The Brazilian star directed a downward two-finger sign towards Rayo Vallecano supporters, implying the team's potential relegation. This act elicited significant backlash from the club and its fanbase.
Despite this, Rayo Vallecano has opted not to file a complaint with the Spanish Football Federation's disciplinary committee. According to Spanish media reports, the club had until Tuesday at 14:00 to take such action but chose to abstain.
In contrast, La Liga has submitted two separate complaints to the disciplinary committee: one against Rayo fans for their chants targeting Vinícius during the match, and another against Vinícius for his post-match gesture towards the stands.
This development initiates an extraordinary judicial process that could result in no penalty or lead to sanctions against the Real Madrid player. Under Spanish football regulations, provoking rival team supporters can result in suspensions of up to four matches.
