The club announced: "Buongiorno sustained a vertebral fracture after a heavy fall and is currently hospitalized at Pineta Grande. He will commence rehabilitation tomorrow."
While the exact recovery timeline is unspecified, it's anticipated that Buongiorno will require at least three months before returning to action. This season, he has been a key player under coach Antonio Conte, featuring in 16 matches and scoring once.
