England, the defending champions, will face France, the Netherlands, and Wales in the toughest group of the Women's Euro 2025 tournament to be held in Switzerland.
The draw for the Women's Euro 2025 tournament has set the stage for an intense summer of football, with England, the defending champions, landing in the tournament's 'Group of Death' alongside France, Netherlands, and Wales.
The 14th edition of the European Women’s Championship will be hosted by Switzerland in July 2025, marking a historic first-time appearance for Wales and Poland in the final tournament. Germany, a powerhouse in women’s football, will aim to reclaim their title after their loss to England in the 2022 final.
In the draw ceremony held at the SwissTech Convention Center in Lausanne, 16 teams were divided into four groups. The draw placed the top-ranked nations—Spain, Germany, France, and host nation Switzerland—into Pot 1. Meanwhile, England was placed in Pot 2 alongside Iceland, Denmark, and Italy. Teams such as Sweden, Norway, and Belgium were drawn from Pot 3, with Wales, Poland, Portugal, and Finland in Pot 4.
The final group stage draw is as follows:
Group A: Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, Finland
Group B: Spain, Portugal, Belgium, Italy
Group C: Germany, Poland, Denmark, Sweden
Group D: France, England, Wales, Netherlands
The top two teams from each group will advance to the quarterfinal stage. Matches will take place across eight stadiums in Switzerland, with the final scheduled for July 27, 2025, at the iconic St. Jakob-Park in Basel. This stadium has previously hosted notable events, including the 2016 Europa League final between Sevilla and Liverpool and six matches in the Euro 2008 men's tournament.
