Louis Saha: Cristiano Ronaldo Would Outscore Messi in MLS
Former Manchester United star Louis Saha claims Cristiano Ronaldo would score far more goals than Lionel Messi if he played in Major League Soccer.
Former Manchester United striker Louis Saha has stated that Cristiano Ronaldo would outperform Lionel Messi in terms of goal-scoring if he played in the MLS (Major League Soccer). Saha believes Ronaldo’s relentless drive and finishing ability would produce higher statistics.
Messi, who recently won the 2024 Best Player award in the MLS, managed to score 36 goals in all competitions for Inter Miami despite facing a series of injuries. His contributions were crucial for his team, proving he remains an impactful player at the club level.
However, in an interview with Complete Sports, Saha explained why Ronaldo would likely achieve even better numbers in the MLS. “Ronaldo would score more goals than Messi because he doesn’t rely on other players as much. He would not settle for scoring just 30 goals. For him, even 50 goals a season isn’t enough.”
Saha emphasized Ronaldo’s mentality and hunger for breaking records, comparing it to Messi’s current approach. “Messi is a different player now. He doesn’t prioritize breaking records anymore. He prefers to play calmly and enjoys being on the pitch. Ronaldo, on the other hand, is still obsessed with scoring goals and achieving new milestones.”
Ronaldo’s recent form supports Saha’s argument, as he scored 35 goals in the Saudi Pro League last season, with 50 goals across all competitions. The discussion highlights the contrasting approaches of the two global superstars at this stage of their careers.
