Dortmund's Julian Ryerson Collapses in Locker Room After Barcelona Match
Julian Ryerson collapsed in the locker room after Dortmund's Champions League clash with Barcelona and was immediately rushed to the hospital.
Julian Ryerson, Borussia Dortmund’s 27-year-old defender, suffered a health scare after the Champions League match against Barcelona. Ryerson was substituted in the first half of the game, which ended in a 3-2 win for Barcelona, and later collapsed in the locker room due to circulation issues.
According to the German newspaper Bild, the situation was far more serious than initially reported. Ryerson reportedly experienced a significant drop in blood pressure and lost consciousness after the game. Medical staff quickly intervened, and the defender was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital for further evaluation.
So far, Dortmund has not issued an official medical report regarding Ryerson's condition. Head coach Nuri Sahin commented briefly, saying, “We need to wait and see,” when asked about the defender’s availability for the upcoming Bundesliga match against Hoffenheim.
Medical tests are currently underway to identify the root cause of Ryerson's collapse. While Dortmund remains cautious, there is speculation that Ryerson could miss at least one week of action, including the crucial league match against Wolfsburg.
Ryerson’s health remains a priority for the club, with decisions about his return to the pitch expected to be made after the completion of his medical assessments.
