Trent Alexander-Arnold Demands High Wage to Extend at Liverpool
Trent Alexander-Arnold reportedly demands €22 million annually to renew his Liverpool contract amid Real Madrid transfer speculation.
Trent Alexander-Arnold, the 26-year-old right-back for Liverpool, has reportedly placed a significant condition for extending his contract with the club. According to English media, Alexander-Arnold has requested an annual salary of €22 million to remain at Anfield.
Recent reports have intensified speculation about Real Madrid's interest in signing Alexander-Arnold as a replacement for their veteran defender Dani Carvajal, who is recovering from a long-term injury. Last month, rumors surfaced claiming that Real Madrid had even approached Liverpool's management to gauge their willingness to negotiate.
In a recent interview with Sky Sports, Alexander-Arnold remained tight-lipped about the situation: "I have been with this club for 20 years. I’ve renewed my contract four or five times already, and none of those discussions were made public. This time will be no different."
However, The Sun reported today that while Liverpool are keen on retaining Alexander-Arnold, the defender's high wage demand could complicate negotiations. He reportedly wishes to become one of the club's highest-paid players.
Should Liverpool fail to meet his demands, a move to Real Madrid remains a viable option. However, The Sun notes that a potential transfer to Madrid would not come cheap, given Alexander-Arnold's stature and value.
As contract talks unfold, Liverpool’s priority remains securing their key player while competing for top honors in the Premier League and European competitions.
