Luis Enrique: Winning Ligue 1 Isn’t as Easy as It Looks

Luis Enrique, the head coach of Paris Saint-Germain, has defended the competitiveness of Ligue 1, stating that winning the title is far from easy, contrary to public opinion.

Speaking ahead of PSG’s crucial match against Monaco in week 16 of the Ligue 1 season, Enrique highlighted the quality of their opponents and the overall difficulty of the French league.

“Monaco is playing with the same coach and core players from last season, and they remain a top-quality team,” Enrique stated in his pre-match press conference. “They are strong both defensively and offensively, making them one of our toughest competitors.”

Enrique further dismissed assumptions about PSG’s dominance in Ligue 1: “People think that we should win the league easily, but the reality is different. Ligue 1 has a high level of competition. If you look at the performances of French teams in European competitions, you’ll understand the league's quality.”

Enrique also acknowledged the difficulty of playing at Monaco’s home ground but expressed confidence: “Playing away against Monaco is never easy, but we aim for victory wherever we play. We know how to handle the pressure from the fans.”

PSG currently leads the Ligue 1 table with a seven-point gap over Monaco. The result of this match will be pivotal in shaping the race for the first half of the season.
