Vinicius Jr: From Streets to Stardom, This Moment Is Unbelievable

Vinicius Jr, the star forward for Real Madrid, shared an emotional moment after receiving the Best Player of the Year 2024 award from FIFA President Gianni Infantino. The Brazilian expressed his gratitude and reflected on the challenges of his childhood.

Speaking at the ceremony in Doha, Vinicius said, “When I was a child, reaching this point seemed impossible. Growing up surrounded by poverty and crime made this moment even more meaningful.”

The Real Madrid star dedicated his award to his current club and his beginnings at Flamengo. “I want to thank everyone who supported me. I hope to play for Real Madrid for many years to come, and I’ll never forget where I started—Flamengo,” he added.

Vinicius has become the third Real Madrid player to receive this honor, following legends Cristiano Ronaldo and Luka Modric. The award comes as a special achievement for Vinicius after narrowly missing out on the Ballon d’Or.

He is set to lead Real Madrid in the Intercontinental Cup final tomorrow at Lusail Stadium against a Mexican opponent, marking another critical milestone in his career.

Vinicius concluded his speech with a powerful message: “They tried to bring me down, but I fought back. Now is my time—I’ve earned this title, and no one can take it away.”
