Thuram: Without Mbappe, France’s Atmosphere Wasn’t the Same
Marcus Thuram revealed that Kylian Mbappe’s absence from recent France camps affected the team’s morale, while discussing his goals for the upcoming year.
Marcus Thuram, the French forward and current Inter Milan star, admitted that the absence of Kylian Mbappe during the last two French national team training camps negatively impacted the squad’s atmosphere.
Speaking in an interview with TF1, Thuram reflected on the year 2024, his ambitions, and the team dynamic: “Not having Kylian with us was noticeable. His role in the team is crucial, both on and off the pitch. Without him, even the atmosphere during meals felt less cheerful.”
Thuram, who has scored 13 goals for Inter Milan this season, spoke about his experience playing for the France national team. “Wearing the French jersey is an unforgettable feeling. Singing the anthem, running on the pitch, and experiencing the moment is incredibly special for me,” he said.
Regarding criticism of his performances for the national team, Thuram remained composed: “Criticism is part of football, and as professionals, we learn to ignore it. What matters most is giving our best on the field.”
When asked about his goal-scoring form, Thuram added: “For me, it’s not just about scoring goals. If I don’t score but play well, I’m satisfied. I focus on contributing to the team in every way I can.”
Thuram also discussed his healthy competition with fellow French striker Randal Kolo Muani: “Randal is a close friend, and we’ve known each other since before joining the national team. Our rivalry is positive, and we support each other.”
As France prepares for the 2024 European Championship, Thuram remains optimistic and determined to make a significant impact while hoping for the return of Kylian Mbappe to strengthen team morale.
