Union Berlin fans gathered for their annual Christmas celebration, honoring victims of the Magdeburg attack and supporting their team's struggles.
Union Berlin fans held a memorable Christmas ceremony at the Alte Försterei Stadium, marking the 22nd consecutive year of this tradition. Nearly 29,000 supporters purchased tickets to attend the event, which included singing carols and paying tribute to the victims of the recent Magdeburg Christmas Market attack.
Amid emotional moments, fans lit candles and held them towards the sky, creating a heartfelt scene. The stadium announcer, Christian Arbeit, began the ceremony with a solemn tribute, expressing solidarity with those affected by the tragic event in Magdeburg.
In addition to the remembrance, discussions about the club's recent struggles also took place. Despite a nine-match winless streak in the Bundesliga, Arbeit reassured fans, saying, "We will stay in the Bundesliga together." This message was met with resounding applause from the crowd.
The event, which lasted two hours, concluded with a strong sense of unity among fans. Union Berlin's winter training is set to resume on January 2, as the team prepares for the second half of the season.
