Nuno Almeida Appointed Manager of Damac in Saudi Pro League

Nuno Almeida, a 52-year-old Portuguese coach, has been officially announced as the new head coach of Damac in the Saudi Pro League. Almeida replaces Cosmin Contra, who had been at the helm since March 2023.

Almeida brings significant experience from the Middle East, having previously served as an assistant coach at Al Sadd in Qatar, where the team won the Qatar Stars League and the Emir Cup. In July, he transitioned to his first head coach role at Al Shamal in Qatar, but his tenure ended in December 2023.

Almeida has worked closely with notable figures like Jesualdo Ferreira at clubs including Sporting CP, SC Braga, Zamalek, and Al Sadd. His managerial journey began in 2021 with Egyptian club Pharco FC, where he spent two seasons.

Almeida joins a growing list of Portuguese managers in the Saudi Pro League, including Jorge Jesus (Al Hilal), Alvaro Pacheco (Al Oruba), Pedro Emanuel (Al Fayha), and Jose Gomes (Al Fateh). His debut match with Damac is scheduled for January 10 against Al Raed, currently 12th in the league standings.
