Saudi Arabia overturned a 2-0 deficit to claim a dramatic 3-2 victory over Yemen in the Gulf Cup, with a last-minute winner.
In an extraordinary match during the Gulf Cup, Saudi Arabia managed a stunning comeback to defeat Yemen 3-2. Trailing by two goals in the first 27 minutes, Saudi Arabia turned the game around with a last-minute strike by Abdullah Hamdan.
Yemen started strong, with Haroon Al-Zubaidi and Abdulmajid Sabra scoring in the 8th and 27th minutes, respectively. However, Saudi Arabia quickly responded, with Mohammed Kanoo reducing the deficit three minutes after Yemen’s second goal.
In the second half, Saudi Arabia pressed for an equalizer and succeeded in the 57th minute when Mosaab Al-Juwair converted a penalty following a handball in Yemen’s box. The match seemed destined for a draw until Abdullah Hamdan, coming on as a substitute, capitalized on a rebound in the 93rd minute to seal the victory.
This win revitalized Saudi Arabia's campaign in the tournament after a disappointing opening loss to Bahrain. Coach Herve Renard praised his team's resilience and determination to fight back under pressure.
