Akanji Reflects on Manchester City's Frustrating Draw Against Everton
Manchester City's defender, Manuel Akanji, expressed frustration after a 1-1 draw with Everton, highlighting missed scoring opportunities and the need for unwavering focus in upcoming matches.
Manchester City defender Manuel Akanji shared his thoughts following the team's 1-1 draw against Everton, emphasizing the challenges faced during the match. Akanji noted that despite creating multiple scoring opportunities, the team was unable to convert them into goals. He stated, 'We had chances to score three or four goals, but the ball just didn't go in.'
Reflecting on a critical moment late in the game, Akanji mentioned a defensive lapse that nearly cost them: 'We were attacking and lost the ball, leading to a six-on-two situation near our goal. Fortunately, I managed to block the shot. Such situations shouldn't happen to us.'
When questioned about Manchester City's position in the title race, Akanji responded, 'The season isn't over, but our focus isn't on the title race right now. We need to concentrate on each game individually.' He highlighted the importance of maintaining concentration, especially with an upcoming away match against Leicester City, which he anticipates will be challenging given the team's current form.
