Rami Slams Ronaldo Over French League Comments
Adil Rami fiercely criticizes Cristiano Ronaldo's remarks about Ligue 1, defending French football's quality and competitive strength.
Adil Rami, the former defender for Lille and Marseille, has strongly responded to recent comments made by Cristiano Ronaldo about the French league. Ronaldo, during the Globe Soccer Awards in Dubai, remarked, "In France, only Paris Saint-Germain matters; the rest are finished."
Rami, an ardent fan of Ronaldo, did not hold back, saying, "Ronaldo spoke nonsense. He should try playing against Monaco, Lille, or Marseille. If he brought his team to face Brest, he'd realize the strength of Ligue 1. We have some of the world's best defenders who play real football."
The comments have stirred debates in France, where many viewed Ronaldo's statements as dismissive of the league's quality. Rami emphasized Ligue 1's reputation as one of the top talent-producing leagues globally, rivaling even Brazil.
Ronaldo, currently playing for Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia, had defended the Saudi Pro League during the same event, further adding to the controversy surrounding his views.
