Paulo Fonseca Poised for Swift Return to Coaching with West Ham

Paulo Fonseca, who was dismissed from his position as AC Milan's head coach just two weeks ago, is now under consideration by West Ham United's management to succeed current coach Julen Lopetegui. Lopetegui's tenure is under scrutiny following a 4-1 defeat to Manchester City and a series of underwhelming performances this season.

Initial discussions between West Ham and Graham Potter have reportedly stalled, primarily due to Potter's reluctance to commit to a contract extending beyond the current season. As a result, the club's focus has shifted towards Fonseca, who, despite his recent departure from Milan, boasts a managerial career that includes stints in various European leagues.

If appointed, this would mark Fonseca's inaugural venture into the English Premier League. His coaching résumé features achievements such as winning the Portuguese Cup and securing multiple Ukrainian Premier League titles during his time with Shakhtar Donetsk.

Fonseca's recent experience with AC Milan was brief; he was appointed at the beginning of last summer but was relieved of his duties after six months, following a draw against AS Roma. He was subsequently replaced by fellow Portuguese coach Sergio Conceição.
